Uptown Girl Power Mural Unveiling

On November 24th, we had a celebration of the Uptown Girl Power mural. There was delicious food, hot chocolate and a lot of the neighborhood came out to celebrate with Majora and the Majora Carter Group.

Ms. Eva, who’s been a daycare hero in the Hunts Point neighborhood for generations, brought her kids to the celebration and she said a few words about the mural, as well.

Look at the change that 825 Hunts Point has seen from 1992 to 2009.

At the Majora Carter Group, we put an emphasis on the potential of every place. 825 Hunts Point Ave has certainly lived up to our expectations in such a beautiful and tangible way…don’t you think! We do.

Don’t miss the official unveiling celebration on November 24th, from 2:30-4:30. The Majora Carter Group staff and other local leaders and community members will be in attendance to really celebrate this new addition to the neighborhood. Everyone is welcome!

Scaffolding Comes Down on Uptown Girl Power Mural in Hunts Point

It’s a mural! And it’s called “YES SHE CAN…” – and it’s beautiful!

We were pretty excited this morning to take a little mini photo essay on it — we love seeing it peeking out above the buildings full of sunshine, inspiration and positivity!

Come by and take a look (here’s a link to the map so you can see where it’s located)! Many thanks to Groundswell for developing this project with us. We’re aiming to develop a series of these beautiful murals, so keep your eyes peeled.
