Majora Carter and David Owen on the Future of Cities HAITI

Uptown Girl Power Mural Unveiling

On November 24th, we had a celebration of the Uptown Girl Power mural. There was delicious food, hot chocolate and a lot of the neighborhood came out to celebrate with Majora and the Majora Carter Group.

Ms. Eva, who’s been a daycare hero in the Hunts Point neighborhood for generations, brought her kids to the celebration and she said a few words about the mural, as well.

Here are more photos of the celebration.

This mural will be the first in a series of public art that we hope to fund. To find out more about the future of Uptown Girl Power, feel free to contact our office at info@majoracartergroup.com.

    About that great mural,
This is just a small thank you for helping make the world a better place.
The bricks and mortor oughta be looking good,
paint that mural with music feeling and space,
lifting spirits lifting hopes and drifting towards your dream, don’t be afraid to dream, because it’s where tomorrows children live.
Be brave in these days of change, and allow yourself to give.

Your mural has been an inspiration and a “way to do it” for future projects in the goal of making Durham, North Carolina–The mid-size”
Green City” of the Southeastern USA.
