Lifetime celebrates Majora Carter, as she works to turn environmentally challenged areas into beautiful thriving communities through the power of connectivity – and finding the value in every person, every place. In her struggle to not be defined by the waste and environmental decay that surrounded her, Carter made a personal stake in her community by founding the Sustainable South Bronx, an environmental project-oriented organization dedicated to revitalizing the South Bronx.

Using her experience from Sustainable South Bronx and other environmental community groups in bridging gaps, increasing the potential value in all groups, and providing a framework for sustainable projects, Carter created the Majora Carter Group, LLC. As a private, for-profit green-collar economic consulting firm, the Majora Carter Group implements a progressive economic development approach based on the fact that there are still more South Bronx’s waiting to be saved.

As an environmental justice activist, Majora Carter’s goal is to educate those in her community and beyond that they are not just a part of the problem but can be an active and transformative force in the solution.
